Using a 1"x3" as a ridge, I began to put up the rafters. The rafters were also 2"x3" and set at 1' up from the center of the joist.  I designed the roof so it would have just enough pitch for water run-off since I also wanted to keep my overall height down.  Clearance was an important consideration as I built my house on the back of a truck.
